Cooking chickpeas in an Instant Pot
1 cup dried chickpeas
3 cups water
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
Rinse and soak: Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. If you have time, soak them in water for 6–8 hours or overnight. This step is optional but helps reduce cooking time and improves texture.
Add to Instant Pot: Drain the chickpeas (if soaked) and add them to the Instant Pot. Pour in the 3 cups of water and add salt if desired.
Set the cooking mode: Close the lid and set the valve to the "Sealing" position. Cook on High Pressure for:
Soaked chickpeas: 15–20 minutes
Unsoaked chickpeas: 35–40 minutes
Release pressure: Once the cooking cycle is complete, let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes, then carefully do a quick release.
Drain and use: Drain the chickpeas, and they’re ready to use in your favorite dishes—like salads, hummus, or curries!
